Cows poop. A lot. A typical “1,400 pound dairy cow produces nearly 54,000 pounds of it annually.” Biodigesters, “a sort of modern alchemy that transforms poop into profits,” have been around for years, but they can be complicated to run and the economics don’t always make sense for a single farmer. Randy Jordan, a farmer, and Bill Jorgenson, an energy consultant, got together several years ago and found a way to make turning manure in money profitable for individual farmers and attractive to some of the biggest corporate farming operations in the country.
