More than 100,000 schools nationwide are closed due to coronavirus and instruction is moving on-line. Speaking from recent personal experience, it’s challenging enough schooling children at the kitchen table, but for the nearly “15% of households with school age children [that] don’t have reliable internet at home” it is all but impossible. Known as the “homework gap,” a 2015 Pew Research Center study found this “digital divide” is most prevalent among students from “low-income and minority families.”
