While many of us were enjoying — or trying to enjoy — the first day of spring last week, much of the Southern United States has been experiencing spring-like weather for several weeks. North Carolina, South Carolina and Northern Florida experienced the arrival of spring earlier than at any point in the past 40 years. “The South-Eastern US has historically experienced a large amount of variability in the onset of spring, so it is hard to say the climate crisis is directly responsible,” but it is raising questions.
