A few weeks ago we wrote about Oakland’s plan to close 10% of its streets to encourage residents  to “recreate in a physically distant manner.” Seattle has joined the list of cities closing off streets to cars “to give more space for people to practice social distancing.” The Emerald City’s effort began a week ago when 2.5 miles of streets were shut to vehicles. Another six miles were added last Friday with the goal of shuttering 15 miles of city streets “to nonessential vehicle traffic to give more space for people to practice social distancing.”
